“Our mission is to create a safe and supportive space where creativity serves as a catalyst for holistic wellness.”

Tallawah Arts and Wellness, Inc. is a nonprofit organization proudly based in Albany, the capital of New York. We are dedicated to uplifting our community through the transformative power of visual and performing arts, fostering holistic wellness and personal empowerment. Inspired by the Jamaican expression “Tallawah,” meaning strong-willed and not to be underestimated, our name embodies resilience and strength in the face of adversity—qualities we champion through our community-focused art programs and wellness initiatives.

Our inclusive programming is designed to empower women, children, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ communities by offering essential resources and safe spaces for self-expression, healing, and growth. At Tallawah, we believe that the arts are a catalyst for self-empowerment and meaningful social change.

Join us as we harness creativity to strengthen our community, inspire resilience, and make a lasting impact—one artistic journey at a time.

The 'Wawa Aba'  is an Akan symbol from West Africa representing resilience and toughness.

Derived from the tough seed of the wawa tree in Ghana, the symbol stands as a powerful emblem of endurance and perseverance.

At Tallawah, we celebrate the empowering qualities of resilience and self-determination. Through creativity, we invite you to connect with your inner strength and discover the unique qualities that define your core. Regardless of your background, identity, or life journey, you possess the toughness and resilience that make you extraordinary.
