Empowering Lives Through the Arts

“Our mission is to create a safe and supportive space where creativity serves as a catalyst for holistic wellness.”
Tallawah Arts and Wellness, Inc. is a nonprofit organization based in Albany, New York, dedicated to engaging the community in visual and performing arts as a pathway to holistic wellness. Through arts and wellness programs, we foster creativity, resilience, and a deeper connection to the natural world.
Inspired by the Jamaican expression “Tallawah,” meaning strong-willed and not to be underestimated, our name reflects the strength and determination we cultivate through arts and wellness programs that honor both people and the planet.
Our inclusive programming prioritizes women, children, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ communities by providing supportive spaces for creative expression, and personal growth.
At Tallawah, we believe the arts are a powerful tool for connection, empowerment, and environmental stewardship.

The 'Wawa Aba' is an Akan symbol from West Africa representing resilience and toughness.
Derived from the tough seed of the wawa tree in Ghana, the symbol stands as a powerful emblem of endurance and perseverance. Inspired by the same spirit, we celebrate resilience and self-determination by helping individuals grow and thrive through arts and wellness programs that enrich people and the planet.
